[IRCA] TP 5 Oct Victoria version

Indeed, a poor morning, with some propagation oddities, mostly before 1300UT. And yes, there was a bit of a boost around 1400UT, mostly affecting the big guns.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

828 JOBB English lessons 1402UT. This seemed to be the most common NHK2 station this morning

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

594 JOAK peaking with man in Japanese 1401UT
693 JOAB English lessons wrestling with CBU-690 splash and sometimes winning 1245UT. The only NHK2 station audible at this time.
774 JOUB Chinese lessons 1349UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

864 laid back instrumental music 1250UT; sounded like 2 short and one long higher pip on hour. KBS?

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

612 woman talking, DU English? 1402UT
621 woman talking, DU English? 1401UT. This and 612 may have shared ABC news, but couldn't get both of thme up at once.
837 JOQK woman talking //594 1259UT, pips on hour
891 JOHK man talking //594 1359UT, extreme minimalist DXing
954 JOKR? man with Japanese inflection 1236UT
1134 JOQR? man and woman talking, Japanese inflection 1252UT
1242 JOLF? rock music 1403UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

576 738 909 972

best wishes,

Nick
