Re: [IRCA] New to list

Hi Kaz,

I thought it might be CJWI, but I did not hang around to find out because my drive to work takes me into WPOP's best coverage area.

Can't do much about the cheaters. So I just go by the book with my loggings and check to see what time is local sunrise at the station I'm logging in order to make the "correct" or should I say "legal" power entry.

Nevertheless, I am having fun!

Welcome to the list, Stan. Your 1410 should be CJWI moved from 1610 a couple years ago.

Re: 1440's. You can't always be sure of stations using night time flee powers. WJJL has been a chronic abuser since the 1990's often running day power at night. In addition, many stations come on at their 6 am with power day power. Some may not understand PSA powers and others may not care nor want to bother to switch from PSA to full power at sunrise.

Subject: [IRCA] New to list

New to list, joined last week, but have been DXing for awhile (like
about 50 years).

Tried something new this winter: AM DXing from the car while driving to
work. My daily 35-minute commute is around dawn local time, so the band
can be very interesting. I use the stock radio and antenna in my 2007
Subaru Outback Sport and my iPhone to record what I monitor with me
annotating the times and frequencies by voice.

I suspected conditions were good this morning when the first thing I
heard was a French language station (I assume Canadian) interfering with
local WPOP on 1410. So I slid up the band, parked on 1440 for the ride
to work, and logged two new ones: WCDL and WJJL.

Sports talk station WCDL is located in Carbondale, Pennsylvania,
transmitting 37 watts, 134 miles to my west. Oldies station WJJL is in
Niagara Falls, New York, transmitting 55 watts, 334 to my
north-northwest. During my commute, the two stations took turns
dominating 1440.
