According to a broadcast engineer in the Boise marjket who contacted
my privately:
"KYWN 890 Meridian has not run their 50 kw for over a year. 1 kw MAX
now. And in that recording it sounds too good to be them as they are
running telephone quality audio with frequent drop outs.

After re-checking my recording to answer this query it turns out I
have to eat my words. Yes, Tim's recording matched mine
perfectly, but it seems neither one of us was hearing KYWN, but
rather KMJE from California, one I've never logged before (mainly
due to KYWN). The legal ID gives both the FM (92.1) and AM.
The FM ID is given as KMJE, but I'm certain the announcer gives
the AM call as KMKE, though as far as I can make out it should
legally be KMJE. The slogan is La Buena. I'll have to check on
the KYWN slogan.
Also had KMJE at 1300 and 1400 UTC , so not sure if KYWN is off
the air, or just unusual propagation. Just goes to show, never
assume anything.
My apologies for leading Tim astray, and thanks to Kaz for making
me research a bit more, and getting me a new one!

Nice catch, Tim ! Nigel, what is the slogan from this one now?
I can't quite copy it cleanly under WLS on Tim's clip. 73 KAZ

Subject: Re: [IRCA] 890 Spanish UNID - help needed
Hi Tim,
Definitely KYWN in Meridian, ID. I happened to still
have my Perseus
recording from this morning, and it matched up perfectly.
A pest here,
but nice catch down your way.

Had a decent opening here to the west this morning at

this UNID SS station on 890 under a strong WLS. I'd be
grateful if anyone
could lend an ear and help with the ID, or at least
help with what's being
said here. I have a station in mind but I'll wait to
hear from others
first. Here's a link to the clip from 1203 UTC, 890
kHz, phased BOGs
towards the west:

The Spanish talk begins at 1:13 in the clip with what
I think could be call
letters.
Many thanks for lending your ears!
