Re: [IRCA] I need a seat of ears......

Isn't there what could be a telephone number in English by the guy starting at :05 of the unfiltered clip? And it gets repeated at the end of the filtered version. The woman though sounds to be in Mandarin.

My ears (Hi, Bruce!) hear the last four digits as 7-1-7-8... and a prefix of possibly 9-6-1 or 5-6-1, or maybe even '2' as the middle digit.

The Solomons seem to use just five-digit numbers for fixed line, but I dunno about mobile service.

The last logging for 9545 showing up amongst DU DXers is the ARDXC's John Adams for 0400 UT on 2 Oct (in the Nov '14 Aussie DX News) with a 'huge' signal... but he was listening in Port Douglas in Qld's Far North... <g>

I tried looking back in the NZ DX Times but couldn't spot anything recent.

Back in Sept '14, Dave Valko in PA logged them at 0845 UT but that wasn't too long after the new tx had been commissioned so the sked might not have settled down. A You Tube posting in the same month has a recording of reception at 0747.

Ok, thanks to a DXing friend I have a filtered version of the clip of my
supposed 9545khz. reception... I will include them here.

On Sunday 2/22/15 I picked up what I think is Solomon Islands Broadcasting
Corporation on 9545khz. They are about 19 hours ahead of me and reception
was made at 4:42 pacific time in Redding, California.

Here's the original, unfiltered:

There were two things on air at the time, VOA Mandarin via Thailand with
250kw and SIBC Solomon Islands with 10kw.

This doesn't appear to be an image/spur, etc of any AM, Shortwave or other
frequency.

The clips are pretty pretty piss poor in quality, but you can hear some
speaking... it's just not very clear at all. What little I can make out it
doesn't sound like Mandarin/Asian, but my ears could be playing tricks on
me.

Any help here?

Paul
