Hello All,
Â
Unlike Nigel's dreary report Asian signals did continue a positive trend here this morning, with several second-tier TP'sÂmanaging weak audio in between the vibrant big guns. 738-BEL2 managed its best audio of the new season (fair) around 1253, while both 603 and 657 had weak mixes of Korean and Chinese stationsÂprior toÂsunrise enhancement.
Â
At my 1235 start time 1323-CRI was already managing one of its best signals this season (fair, with apparent Russian), so the band did show promise early on in the predawn darkness. Around this time both 603 and 657 already had weak mixes of Korean and Chinese, and 738-BEL2 wasÂin and out with poor audio. Around 1252 the Taiwan signal peaked to a fair level, although San Francisco splatter forced recording on 737 kHz. Many Japanese andÂKorean big guns were already reaching S9 levels in the total darkness around this time, including 594-JOAK, 693-JOAB, 747-JOIB, 972-HLCA and the 1053-Jammer. Sunrise enhancement really didn't boost upÂsignals very much, though, andÂthe weak Chinese on 603, 657, 918, 936 and 1593 generally started to fade into the noise. 738-BEL2 had a late revival after 1400 with its female-voiced Chinese news (reaching the same fair level, although free of KCBS splatter), while 594-JOAK, 693-JOAB and 972-HLCA continued their S9 runs well past 1400. Overall it was an interesting morning, although the weaker Chinese stations on 918,Â936 and 1593Âseemed to bail out with the increasing daylight. Best signal overall was a tie between 594-JOAK at 1350Âand 972-HLCA at 1355, both of which were at S9 levels in and out through most of the session.
