[IRCA] TP 17 Aug Victoria version

Sorry for the delay, stayed up far too late listening to this (that's 
a hint that it was good), so needed to send the actual report the 
following morning.

So much for Asian/DU times being predictable....yes Asians were there 
the morning of the 17th, fighting with New Zealand, right from 
1120UT.  I'd say NZ was winning, at least on the power vs. distance 
ratios, and just plain stamina.   What a strange mix, and finishing 
up with Aussies.   I'm sure there were lots of unlogged 
stations...just too much to keep track of.



pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, 
at least briefly):

not today, but, ahem, suspected 531 PI came close, very close



Reasonable audio  at  times during the period (much of it 
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

531 PI likely, man in island language, followed by choral island mx 
1232UT.  Had a cliffside volume to it.

Forgive the het; I was running wide synchronous detection, somewhere

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or 
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

567 R NZ National man DU EE 1215UT //756; 675 was in there at times 
too, but never as good as the other two?
702 Radio Live 1233UT woman talking "thank you very much Grant" 
followed by "Radio Live Sean Plunket" by man (assisted by the online 
archive).  New for me.
738 Tahiti man and woman en francais 1122UT
747 JOIB man in JJ //828 1229UT
765 R. Kahungunu island vocals //603 1158UT
774 3LO DU EE woman discussing unemployment o/folksy vocals (who?), 
1251UT, weaker by 1300UT but ABC news fanfare and pips cut through
909 Southern Star. laid back vocal mx; paralleled 657 at 1231 and 1249UT
1566 HLAZ woman in CC 1126UT, didn't really get past this level even 
after 1230UT

	


Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be 
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in 
talk or music) :

594 unID, piano mx 1126UT, given the weird mix, it might not have been Japan...
603 R. Waatea, islandish vocal mx 1153UT; paralleled at 1158 w/765
621 3RN instrumental mx 1258UT, 6 pips on hour and ABC news sounder
657 Southern Star, laid back mx //909 1231 and 1249UT
774 JOUB man talking 1139 //828, seemed JJ
819 man in DU EE? 1145UT
1035 man in DU EE? 1135UT, seemed //1008 which was being butchered by 
KOMO (nasty splash on that one, and can't seem to null it)
1053 KK jammer 1259UT
1107 man and woman in DU EE? 1251UT
1125 unID, vocal mx very weak, 1124-6 also 1205UT.
1134 woman talking 1150, didn't sound oriental, more DU EE??
1179 just a walking bass line in the splash 1224UT



Strongish het, no or "near imaginary"audio (either undermodulated or 
ravaged by splatter):
