[IRCA] TP DX in Seattle on January 21

It was an incredible morning for TPs here. Most of the action today was limited to 1) frequencies above 1300 kHz, 2) a narrow window of time from 1520 to 1540, and 3) stations in the southern half of Japan. There were exceptions to all three rules but that seemed to be the general flavor of DX today.

Dennis' strongest signal was 1422 which also did well here, but the strongest one for me was probably probably JOSF-1332. However, the best catch of the morning, and probably my best catch from home this season, was NHK2 on 1476. There are 3 stations listed, with a combined power of 1.2 kw. They weren't quite strong enough to be understood, but reception was confirmed by paralleling with 1386 and 1602 (the low band powerhouses like 774 were completely absent at the time).

Good - mostly understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly
1332 JOSF several commercials in Japanese 1527, then animated man and woman 1529

Fair - a few words and phrases would have been understood by a native speaker
1242 JOLF, 1318 man in Japanese, then commercials peaking at 1326
1314 JOUF, Japanese commercials 1529
1404 Long string of Japanese commercials 1528, JOQL or JOVR - no ID heard
1422 Fast talking Japanese woman 1530
1494 Energetic man & woman in Japanese 1534
1503 JOUK, Dreamy vocal music 1530, then woman & man talking
1566 HLAZ, Japanese talk 1331
1602 NHK2, language lesson 1532

Poor - not understandable but still worth the effort (in most cases)
774 JOUB faint pips 1300
1134 JOQR, occasional bits of JJ talk poking through the CKWX splatter 1528
1206 Yanbian, faint talk 1531 on 1205.96
1386 NHK2, 1532 Language lessons //1476
1431 Man in Japanese 1426, pop song 1532, briefly doing well against 1430 QRM. 1449 Woman & man in Japanese occasional poking above domestic splatter 1527-1532 1476 NHK2, 1532 language lesson //1386/1602. There are 2 100 watters and a 1kw outlet listed here!
1575 VOA, Burmese program 1537
1593 CNR or NHK in the 1590 splatter 1540

Interesting carriers 1224 1359 1485 1512 1539 1584
