[IRCA] Wandering hets on 1250 USB & 1430 LSB

A few weeks ago I noticed a wandering het on 1250khz
USB.
Last night I found the mate to
the 1250khz USB het on 1430khz LSB.
Both were very
active, changing pitch, sometimes rapidly, sometimes
slowly. They are not continuous, either changing
pitch until it drifts out of the receiver passband and
then returning or fading away and then returning.
My suspicion is that the source is a station half way
between the two (180khz separation / 2 = 90Khz),
1250khz +90khz = 1340khz.: 1430khz - 90khz =
1340khz. Suspect a station on 1340khz is
producing summetrical spurs approximately 90khz out from
their carrier.
Loop bearing for both
wandering hets is the same, NW/SE from
here.
Both are heard only at night.
My local on 1340 WJOL is almost at right angles and not
the source.
Similar activity was noted during
the spring of 2013. But, back then I never heard the
lower and upper on the same day as I have last night. Last
year on different days one was noted near 1270khz and a
few days later on 1430khz.
Last night I
could flip back and forth between 1250 and 1430 and hear
them both. They are not noted every night, perhaps
due to drifting right on channel or ceasing and
disappearing completely.
Anyone interested send
me an e-mail and I'll send a brief clip of this odd
sounding drifter. And, when you get a chance at
night, especially if you are in the midwest, try for them
on your rig.
