Quick dial spin on the Palstar R30C at 7:10 p.m. EST / 4 JAN (0010 UTC 
/ 5 JAN):

Algeria 531 & 549 local-like with Bob Marley "No Woman No Cry"

Mauritania 783 huge with Arabic talk having light audio, carrier 
stronger than adjacent 780 (Coro + WBBM) and 790 (WPRV + Reloj)

Loud Spain all over the place 585, 639, 648, 684, 774, 855, 999, 1107 
etc.  1215 had Spain way over UK.

France 945 strong, best from that country.

Northern Europe in there but not impressive.

Scattering of Latin Americans with 580 & 940 Puerto Rico among the 
bigger blasters.
