In my very early days of DXing, when I was maybe 14 or so, I loaned a
small portable radio to a middle-aged neighbour who was also a good
family friend, who was ill. I didn't know she was dying of cancer. She
died a few months later, and of course I never asked for its return. Sometimes loans really are gifts, John, and yours maybe qualifies.

Subject: [NRC-AM] Radio returned
An unexpected Christmas surprise: A quarter century ago, I loaned my HQ-180 to a nephew who was preparing for a summer architectural dig in France, to help him learn French from SWBC. Saturday, he returned it to me.
