[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 10-30

Hello All,

As Colin and Richard have already reported, Asian signals took quite a nosedive this morning, with decent audio limited to a few big gun TP's here. The band started out at 1300 in a mediocre state, and generally stayed there throughout a lackluster sunrise enhancement until folding at 1450. 594-JOUB, 747-JOIB, 774-JOUB and 828-JOBB managed fair to good signals in and out during the 1330-1430 period, along with the Korean big guns on 972 and 1566. The 1053-Jammer continues to be pestered by an UnID TP co-channel, although propagation wasn't favorable for any kind of detailed investigation this morning (it seems to be music-oriented). The only second-tier TP's showing up (all at a halfhearted level) were 603-China and 603-HLSA in a mix at 1408, 657- Pyongyang with ancient orchestral music at 1437, 738-BEL2 with Chinese speech at 1335, and CRI-1017 with Korean speech and Chinese music at 1433.

The only kind of excitement in the lackluster session came at 1410, when 738 kHz had a huge carrier that was definitely strange for the mediocre morning. Wondering how in the world 738-BEL2 could be defying the pathetic propagation to come up with such a potent carrier, I tuned all around the frequency, and couldn't come up with even a trace of Chinese. Finally I realized what was going on, and re-directed the 12" FSL to face 738-Tahiti, which was managing one of its best signals of the season (fair) at this lackluster location with French female speech in KCBS splatter. Unfortunately Tahiti's bearing at this location isn't too much different from that of 740-KCBS, so the PL-380's modest DSP filtering got a severe test. Any audio at all from 738-Tahiti has been very rare here this season, although last year in September it was almost a daily visitor. So even on such a mediocre morning, DXing surprises can come out of the blue.
