[IRCA] Oregon Cliff (Rockwork 4) Ultralight DU's for 7-22

Hello All,

Huge DU signals were back in force at the soggy cliff this morning as several "Big Gun" Aussies did their best to compete with the usual Kiwi regulars on several frequencies. 531-PI, 567-RNZ, 594-3WV and 603-Radio Waatea all managed to peg the PL-380 S/N display at various times this morning, with 531-PI (a 5 kW Samoan language station in Auckland, NZ) accomplishing this for the first time on any cliff trip. Some marginal Chinese was received on 936 around 1225 (indicating probable reception of the 1 kW New Supremo station in NZ) and 585-2WEB (Bourke, Australia, 10 kW) was apparently back for the first time in 2 years with weak classic rock at 1250.
Despite the unusually vibrant signals the DU propagation didn't stick around much past 1320, so the period of peak sunrise enhancement was relatively short (from 1230-1300). The 8-man Yachats DXpedition group was planning to start its Perseus-SDR recording sessions this morning, so I'll be interested to hear how their multi-elevation antenna results come out. At least for the Standard (single-optimized frequency) version of the 12" FSL antenna used here, the DU-DXing results have been all that I could have hoped for during the past couple of days.

531 PI Auckland, New Zealand Pegging the PL-380 S/N display with Samoan language speech at 1232; best signal ever
received during any of my DXpeditions

531 UnID Aussie Talkback station with news and interview format dominating over 531-PI at times. Not heard during any
previous trip (the other Aussies usually have a rock format on this frequency)-- any ideas from Down Under?

558 Unid-DU Some weak audio here around 1225, but no match for the 560 domestic splatter
567 RNZ Wellington, New Zealand Monster signal with DU English interview program around 1255
576 2RN Sydney, Australia Huge signal at 1245 during ABC interview program
585 2WEB Bourke, Australia Presumably the one with weak classic rock at 1250; the other usual DU on this frequency is R. Ngati
Porou (Maori), and the format didn't match up
594 3WV Horsham, Australia Very strong ABC interview program pegging the PL-380 S/N at times (through some KUGN splatter)

603 Radio Waatea Auckland, New Zealand Pegging the PL-380 S/N with Maori-language choral music at 1253-- one of the best
DU signals on the Cliff so far (// 585 and 765)

639 RNZ Alexendra, New Zealand Pretty vibrant signals from this low-power (2 kW) relay at 1304; this station consistently rules
the frequency on the Cliff, although 2HC sneaks in at times
657 Southern Star Wellington, New Zealand Excellent strength Christian music at 1231
675 RNZ Christchurch, New Zealand Strong interview program // 567 and 639 at 1312
684 NZ Rhema Good strength Christian contemporary music at 1239
738 Radio Polynesie Mahina, Tahiti Booming French YL speech at 1205; no trace of Aussie 2NR yet on this frequency
756 RNZ Auckland, New Zealand In and out with interview program at 1312 // 675 and others
765 Radio Kahungunu Napier-Hastings, New Zealand Very good strength Maori music // 603 at 1253
783 **Access Radio** (not Samoan Capital Radio :-) Good strength speech in unknown language at 1248, but signals nowhere
                near yesterday's awesome level
936 New Supremo (presumed) Auckland, New Zealand Marginal Chinese-language speech on the frequency at 1225 (with no
Asian propagation at the time), but will keep tying for more conclusive evidence on this 1 kW station

(Many more DU signals were on other frequencies throughout the band during the session, but there wasn't enough live DXing
time during sunrise enhancement to sort them all out. Hopefully the Yachats group (with multiple SDR's) will have the same delightful issue at Cape Perpetua-- along with the means to solve the problem.
