Well, we've gotten back into a "can't believe it's April, darn near
May" mode. Usually in these parts, we're talking about the
weather, but I'm talking about hearing audio on 1269, from a JJ 5 kw
station, however briefly (or was it the 1 kw parallel on the north
coast of Hokkaido? the 5kw one is inland). It was pretty much
exclusively Asiatic this morning, almost all northern Japan with a
couple of Koreans thrown in.
Pretty much all done by 1245UT, with a couple of quick DUs to finish
off. Of course, HLAZ kept popping back one last time until near 1300UT.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):
774 JOUB man in JJ at 1214 and 1218UT. Making reappearances until
about 1240UT, usually at lower level.
reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
747 JOIB man in JJ //774 at 1230 and 1235UT
1287 JOHR JJ pop mx 1221UT, and a number of reappearances
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be
understood by a native speaker:
738 Tahiti man in FF 1246UT; only hints of it earlier
1566 HLAZ JJ talk by man just after pattern change at 1230UT; mention
of FEBC. Surprisingly poor given that it had already made a number
of appearances before the pattern change, usually at a somewhat lower
level, but occasionally enough to recognize language. Supposedly CC
broadcast, per PAL, but actually EE: "I am basically saying one of
two things" "the Lord" by man etc. at 1215UT. A deeper voiced man's
speech was unrecognizable. I guess it could have been Australia
instead, but absolutely no other sign of DU at this time, and the
frequency was within 0.1Hz of the JJ broadcast after 1230UT.
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :
279 R. Rossii? light instrumental mx 1232UT
594 JOAK? woman talking JJ inglection 1222UT
612 unID light mx 1245UT, maybe 4QR making a brief visit? Asiatics
pretty much gone by now.
891 JOHK? man talking, JJ inflection 1224UT
954 JOKR? woman and man talking, JJ inflection 1227 and 1237UT
1053 KK jammer 1217 and 1236UT
1269 JOFM/JOHW JJ pop mx //1287 at 1221UT
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary"audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter):
972 1098w/SAH 1188 1242 1575
best wishes,
Nick
