[IRCA] Discussion Of Daily Solar Space And Geomagnetic Weather

DISCUSSION OF DAILY SOLAR SPACE AND GEOMAGNETIC WEATHER-

For Thursday February 14, 2013

Solar activity is low as far as the emergence of the number of new sunspot 
groups. Currently there are 3 new un-numbered sunspot groups and 4 existing 
numbered sunspot groups.

Solar activity is low as far as the number of new solar flares, 2 occurred. 
The largest solar flare in magnitude was a small in size C1.0, associated 
with sunspot group #11667, at that time located at approximately N21W87.

The daily solar flux index (SFI) has been above 100 for 15 consecutive days, 
currently at 100.2.

The daily sunspot number (SSN) has languished below 100 for 30 consecutive 
days, currently (NOAA) at 25.

The geomagnetic field has been other than quiet for the third day in a row 
with the Kp (planetary) index as high as a 3. As collected by Potsdam 
Germany WDC the 3 hour Kp (planetary) intervals were 33332222. As collected 
by NOAA/SWPC the 3 hour Kp (planetary) intervals were 33332121.

The Dst ranged between -6 and -42.

Via SOHO the maximum and minimum solar wind values were 304-388 km/s.

The maximum background x-ray value was B1.7.
