Re: [IRCA] Tom Ray Leaving WOR

Last Friday Tom Ray put out a press release saying he
resigned from Clear Channel and WOR to start his own
consulting business.

In todays Northeast Radio Watch Scott Fybush says:

** Begin Quote **

NEW YORK
coverage begins in lower Manhattan, where one of the city's
longest-serving broadcast engineers has parted way with the
station he completely rebuilt last decade. Tom Ray's time at
WOR (710) lasted just over 15 years, and what a decade and a
half it was: he oversaw the station's move from its (very)
longtime 1440 Broadway address downtown to the financial
district, shepherded its New Jersey transmitter relocation
through a veritable swamp of political and physical
obstacles, and made himself a national lightning rod with his
vocal initial support for HD Radio on AM.(Tom literally wrote
the book on the topic, in fact.)

Ray had been serving as national director of engineering when
Buckley Broadcasting sold WOR to Clear Channel last year, and
he gave up the remaining Buckley stations to stay with WOR.
Now he's stepping down from that post to launch his own
independent consultancy, Tom Ray Broadcast Consulting, with
another big announcement coming tomorrow.
