It was a nice morning in Grayland, too, where Chuck, Tom, and I are
feasting on TPs.
See below for some inline comparisons, going from my notes and memory.
It was a fairly typical Grayland morning for me, not specacular by
Grayland standards but still worth the trip. Audio was heard on nearly
all the 9kHz split channels. Highlights so far for me include CRI on
603 (tx on Hainan island), CNR2 on 630 & 900, KVOK-560, CHina?-1476
(still remain unid but I suspect Heilongjiang), both Japanese on 1071
(but no sign of India), Chinese stations buzzing the 774 747 828 873 NHK
stations. Plus the usual cast of characters.

Hello All,
It was another nice TP-DXing morning here, with the Chinese stations especially doing better than they have all week. 603, 639, 738, 936 and 1044 kHz all came through with fair to good audio from 1330-1415, with 639-CNR1 the strongest of the group. 738-BEL2 in Taiwan matched its best signals of the season, and 936-Anhui did well with an apparent drama program after 1400. As usual this week the Korean big guns on 972 and 1053 were the strongest TP's of the morning, with 972-HLCA again pegging the Tecsun's S/N readout with an awesome signal around 1415. Maxing out the PL-380's S/N readout is actually very unusual for Asiatic TP's here, with only 972-HLCA and the 1053-Jammer having managed such strength so far this season. By comparison, no fewer than 10 South Pacific (DU) stations did it on the Oregon cliffs this summer (567-NZ, 594-NZ, 603-NZ, 657-NZ, 684-NZ, 738-Tahiti, 765-NZ, 828-NZ, 891-5AN and 963-NZ). Of course, I'm happy to see other members of the TP-DXing gang givi!
ng!
"Cliffhanger DX" a try this season (and wish that I could join them).
558 HLQH Daegu, S. Korea Fair Korean YL speech at 1332;
Had something there, pretty sure it was HLQH
no 603 // available
594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan Very good Japanese male
conversation at 1335
Same here
603 Hulun Buir, China Fair Chinese YL speech and music
at 1342; faint trace of a presumed HLSA at times
Nothing I can say was Hulun Buir. At 1400 there was a strong carrier
with weak audio from KBS, CRI, and 2 unid Chinese stations with late
pips at 20 and 35 seconds after the TOH
639 CNR1 China Synchros Good Chinese YL and OM news
at 1356 in KFI heterodyne; best Chinese signal
http://www.mediafire.com/?loml4x2do5on57f
Also good here
657 Pyongyang, N. Korea Ancient music undermodulated in
huge carrier 1354
I had a Chinese station dominating 657 just before 1400, but Pyongyang
was huge with great audio after 1400, equal in strength to the 650/660
domestics, maybe a bit stronger at times
738 BEL2 Penghu, Taiwan Fair-good Chinese OM speech
and pop music prior to 1400 TOH
http://www.mediafire.com/?3f55flq8p3saqo3
OK but unexciting signal at 1400, // 1143. I had French talk a couple
hours earlier (Tahiti no doubt), plus Korea at times
747 JOIB Sapporo, Japan Very good Japanese male speech
at 1402; best NHK signal of the morning
Not quite as good as 594 or 774 but respectable
774 JOUB Akita, Japan Fair Japanese speech at 1404
through KTTH splatter
Just after 1400, JOUB was getting beaten up pretty badly by an unid
Chinese station
828 JOBB Osaka, Japan Fair Japanese conversation 1408
Good here, with Chinese in the background
936 Anhui, China Fair-good Chinese YL speech during
apparent drama program at 1405
http://www.mediafire.com/?28n8bd7nb0yj2mg
Something noted in passing at times, I assumed Anhui and kept going
972 HLCA Dangjin, S. Korea Another monster signal at 1415
with 3-way Korean conversation; best TP of session
http://www.mediafire.com/?yi6fh1jn4233tmt
Same thing here
1044 CRI Jiangsu, China Fair Japanese OM speech during
external program at 1349
Good signal here
1053 Korean Jammer Almost nuclear-level power this morning
Good signal from the jammer, though I don't remember it being quite as
good as you describe. The jammer mysteriously disappeared at 1402, for
some reason. Maybe someone tripped over the power cord.
1134 KBS Hwaseong, S. Korea Very good Korean speech and
music in and out of Vancouver around 1337
I noted something here a few times but kept going. I think it was
mostly Japan. Korea might've been there at times
1287 JOHR Sapporo, Japan (HBC) Fair rapid-fire Japanese YL
speech through splatter at 1409
Same here
1566 HLAZ Jeju, S. Korea Very good Japanese YL speech
during Christian program at 1319
Huge level here too, especially just before the antenna switch at 1345
1575 VOA Ban Rassom, Thailand Fair-good Asiatic YL and OM
speech up and down from 1320-1400
Sub-par signal here
73 and Good DX,
Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA)
