(hmm looks like I sent "Sept 23" yesterday also. Sorry about that,
it really was the 22nd)
As Walt as already observed, an Asian morning, and one which was
almost exclusively populated with the regulars, along with some
second string Japanese, but with very little hint of anything deeper,
possible China on 1206 excepted. With the geomagnetic indices, slow
and decreasing solar wind of low density, little auroral activity etc
etc I would have expected a bit more from China given that we've
already heard a fair number this month.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):
594 JOAK man and woman in JJ, talking and laughing at
1345UT. Hadn't been up to much earlier
774 JOUB finally got up to this level at 1336UT w/man speaking JJ
972 HLCA man talking in KK 1341, then singing a capella with other
men, repeated several times. Really quite a jolly station at this
time, as there was studio singing there a couple of mornings ago also.
reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
747 JOIB EE lessons at 1334UT
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be
understood by a native speaker:
828 JOBB musical interlude //774 1335UT
1053 jammer 1334UT
1287 JOHR man in JJ at 1341UT
1566 HLAZ choral mx 1333UT
1575 VoA? man in SE Asian language at 1341UT
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :
567 JOIK man talking //594 at 1343UT
612 DU sounding man talking at 1353 4QR??
873 JOGB man and woman talking //774 (EE lessons) 1344UT
891 JOHK man and woman talking and laughing //594 at 1346UT
954 man singing 1342; JOKR?
1206 woman talking, very murky at 1337UT. Something was at
1205.959kHz, but lots of other carriers including a fairly big big
Doppler? smeared carrier pretty much right on 1206, so maybe this wasn't China?
1242 very weak talk plus a hum on channel from someone at
1241.874kHz; nobody there on my mwoffsets list
Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):
864, 1143, 1323, 1377, 1422, 1503
best wishes,
Nick
