[IRCA] TP August 30, 2012 / Victoria version

Signals weren't as good as yesterday except for HLAZ which did very well at times, especially around 1230UT, so maybe Colin should listen a little earlier at Point no Point. Walt's location closer to the water might well be getting him better DU reception, as I didn't hear 891 until after 1330UT, and that wasn't all that good.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

1566 HLAZ: this showed up quite early (sunset at the transmitter) with vocal mx, and NHK style pips at 1000UT at somewhat lower level than this, but still not bad. The real strength showed up at 1229, as CC talk by man faded up as the CC broadcast ended, then, off air, followed by JJ talk fading up to fine level with HLAZ ID by woman in JJ, and usual "What a friend I have in Jesus" instrumental. Up and down until after 1300, but easily the best signal on the band pretty much during that period.

reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

1287 JOHR woman in JJ at 1245; also heard fairly well for next 20 minutes or so

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be
understood by a native speaker:

828 JOBB NHK pips at 1200 after instrumental mx; never came back to this level though
1053 Korean jammer peaked about 1236UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

747 JOIB? man talking, seemed //774?
774 JOUB? man and woman talking at 1233UT, never any stronger than this
891 woman talking in DU inflected? talk at 1332UT
1116 6 long pips at 1100 UT 4BC?

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

738, 1098, 1134, 1269, 1422, 1575

best wishes,

Nick
