Re: [IRCA] TP's for Thursday 4/05/12

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for another great TP report this morning, and for your comment
on the FSL antenna article.

Yes, I remember your amazing TP-DX report from the Oregon cliff site
during the IRCA convention, and it was one reason why I decided to push
my own DU-chasing luck on the Oregon beach cliffs last year. 576-2RN
was a regular during those Ultralight DXing sessions. The diverse
variety of foreign music played on the Aussie RN network occasionally
tricks DXers into thinking that they have received something quite
exotic :-)

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the information on 2RN, after checking the stations on PALs
and noticing the comment that
2RN played religious music I thought that it could be them.  Will start
checking 576 when I listen, nothing
this morning on 576.  Hopefully this summer I can make it to the pull
out area just South of Cannon Beach, OR
I had good luck there with TP's when the last IRCA convention was held
in Seaside.  Enjoyed you FSL Antenna
article in the recent issue of IRCA.

best regards,

Dennis,
Kalama, WA

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for your detailed TP report this morning (and on most recent
mornings).

I was also listening from 1300-1345 this morning, and noticed some
unusual (for here) propagation from the South Pacific. 738-Tahiti was
in at a fair level with French talk around 1330, plus there were some
fairly strong carriers on several "Big Gun" DU frequencies like 567,
657 and 675 kHz.  Your 576 kHz UnID could possibly have been a signal
from 2RN, which is a fairly strong station on the Oregon coast each
summer, typically playing a diverse variety of music

Conditions really improved this morning.   Lower channels at good
levels while
the
upper channels 1566 & 1575 produced no audio.  Hawaii on 1500 was heard
with a
good signal.
Felt like a morning in September, a nice change from previous
spring/winter
conditions here.

153      RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1308 fair signal with man in Russian
279      RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1301-1304 weak signal with man in Russian.
576      UNKNOWN 1340-1343 fair signal at times. Gospel song by woman
then
signal faded.
out at end of song.  Not // to the NHK 1 network.  First time
anything heard on this channel.
Back again at 1347 with woman singing non gospel tune.  1348
Jazz
tune.  1451 man speaking in ?
Signal then faded out.  Signal best on SW ewe, but heard on
other 3
antennas.
594     JAPAN, JOAK NHK 1 1309 good signal with two men in Japanese.
666      JAPAN, JOBK NHK 1 1326-1327 man & woman in Japanese // 594.
693      JAPAN, JOAB NHK 2 1318 good signal with man in Japanese.
774      JAPAN, JOUB NHK2 1319 good signal // 693
828      JAPAN, JOBB NHK 2 1320-1322 poor signal.  Surprise that this
station
poor while other
Japanese powerhouse station had good signals.  1323 signal
up to
fair.
891      AUSTRALIA? close to audio carrier, but Idaho station KDJQ
signal is to
strong.  I can
lower KDJQ signal with the sky wire loop, but it lowers the
DU to a
lower carrier level.
1500    HAWAII KHKA  1400 good signal atop channel with ID.  ESPN
programming.
