Yllätyksiäkin Dx-kuunteluun mahtuu - tällä kertaa muutama vuosi sitten 
lopettanut kanadalainen CKBC asema vastasi yli neljä vuotta raportin 
lähettämisen jälkeen. Kesäopiskelija oli siivonnut vanhaa toimistoa ja 
löytänyt avaamattoman kirjeeni.....

Dear Jyrki,
Hi! I am a summer student working at the offices of Max 104.9 FM, 
formerly CKBC. While cleaning out an old office, I came across your 
letter. I’m sorry to tell you that for some reason it was never opened 
and read. Unfortunate, because I’m sure the station would have been 
thrilled to read your letter and hear that CKBC made its way to Finland.

We’re now an FM station, so I’m sure you no longer receive our station; 
however, our website will be up and running later this summer- 
www.max1049.ca <http://www.max1049.ca/> – if you want to check out the 
new revamped CKBC.

My name is Jane Evans, working as promotions assistant for the summer. 
I’m from Bathurst, but during the school year I study at the University 
of Ottawa. I’m taking a B.Sc, major in biology, minor chemistry. Maybe 
I’ll be a doctor one day.

As for confirmation of reception, I can tell you from old documents that 
the old antenna used to be Lat. 47 37 25, Long. 65 37 26, about 5 km 
away from the station. The antennas were two Andrew ¼ waves, 181 feet 
high, 181 feet apart. The antennas were aligned at 207, and were 
directional. The main transmitter was a Harris MW-10 (10 kw) and the 
backup was a Collins 5 kw.

I was surprised to learn that DX-ing is a hobby, I have never known 
anyone who does this. I have also never been to Finland, but it sounds 
beautiful, I hope I’ll get there someday. If you are ever in Bathurst, 
NB, feel free to stop by the Max studios. And I’ll suggest that you do 
travel to Eastern Canada- it’s beautiful, especially if you still prefer 
small communities and countryside to large cities. I hope Maarit and 
Hanna are well.

I hope you still enjoy this late (4 years!) reply, and I’m sorry that 
your letter was never replied to in 2003.
