Re: [IRCA] WHP/WTKT not heard in Omaha

Iowan blog here...lol

670 Chicago made it to Grand Island along with 720. Also amazing was hearing the old 850 KLEU under KOA right outside of GI with my Dads old 68 Catalina fantastic radio and car for that matter! KLEU had 500w with one main lobe NNE and one west.

I tried (0005 ELT) and tried (0033) and tried (0105) for WHP, but they just didn't pop through. And I'm with Bill atiDvorak on this one, either cx to the east last night were a dud, or WHP had to have been on night pattern. Surely 5 kw on ND from central Pennsylvania would've made it this far.

I got into it last night with someone on Star Chat who kept INSISTING that KFBK-1530 in Sacramento has the strongest groundwave signal of any station in the US! Used something about 5632.70 mV/m at 1 km or somesuch as his rationale. Puh-LEEEEZE. KFBK doesn't get out much east of Reno/Carson City in the daytime, and that doesn't even BEGIN to touch the 450+ mile radius of KFYR-550 in Bismarck, ND, which wins that honor going away.
