It's more likely Kiribati, especially if you're hearing it early in the evening.  The station moved there from 846 sometime last year.

One thing I have noted, that is a little different, 
is that 1440khz is occupied all the time by an Island 
sounding station with Island music and talk in 
a micronesian sounding dialect - 

PAL indicates this could be Saipan - normally 300W at 
night, they have a wicked signal early on and through the 
night.
