For anyone interested:

Australian Heritage AM Radio
2GZ Orange, Central NSW
'Country Service'
____________________________

The 2GZ Country Service Club had an outstanding record of service to
country listeners in Central NSW according to the latest in the
popular series of Long Lost Australian Radio Stars hosted by the
Radio Heritage Foundation at www.radioheritage.net.

Now known as 2EL, the original radio station was established in 1935
and the 2GZ Country Service Club would have celebrated its 75th
anniversary next year, along with the popular 2GZ Junior Country
Service Club.

The resident station manager in Orange was Alan Ridley, who 75 years
ago also represented Australia in the Rugby League test series
against England.

Ian McDonald was the programme manager, and other well known
personalities at 2GZ included Merv Beeh, Dick Turner, Joy Mary Hunt,
Eric Child, Ted Husband, Gordon Ratcliffe, Pam Manning, Frank Semple,
and Arthur St George.

Long time residents will remember many of these names from the 1940's
when 2GZ broadcast from the Union Bank in Orange and the original
transmitter was at Amaroo.

This new release brings to over thirty the number of such features
currently included in the Long Lost Australian Radio Stars series at
www.radioheritage.net where an increasing amount of Australian radio
heritage can now be found.

If you have your own memories, memorabilia and more you'd like to
share about 2GZ Orange or any of the other stations featured in the
series, the Radio Heritage Foundation wants to hear from you.

It may be some old photos, booklets, newspaper or magazine articles
or even some recordings. Memories of listening to 2GZ over the years
are also important and wanted because they help people understand the
important community role played by 2GZ over several generations.

The Radio Heritage Foundation is a registered non-profit organization
connecting popular culture nostalgia and radio heritage across the
Pacific and its website is www.radioheritage.net where full contact
details can be found. Email: info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
