KPWX dropped from daytime power at 0230 utc. Local sunset at Mt. Angel is 0153 utc.
There's local sunset, and then there's FCC sunset, which is averaged
over each month and rounded to the nearest 15-minute increment. In
September and March, when sunrise/sunset times vary most widely from the
start to the end of the month, that often means "FCC sunset" falls well
after real sunset by Sept. 30.
You can find FCC sunrise/sunset times for each station from the FCC's AM
Query. Here's the link to KPWX's (watch for wrap):
http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/srsstime?dlat=45&mlat=4&slat=35.00&dlon=122&mlon=48&slon=27.00&tzone=D
Times are always given in standard time. KPWX goes to night
power/pattern at 6:30 PM PST = 7:30 PM PDT = 0230 UTC in September. If
they're operating correctly, tomorrow's pattern change will come an hour
earlier: 5:30 PM PST = 6:30 PM PDT = 0130 UTC.
KPWX powers up at 5:45 AM PST (6:30 AM PDT) in September, 6:30 AM PST
(7:30 AM PDT) in October.
I'm sure CKWX will appreciate the change!
