The Ecuadorian QSLs in my collection came from stations on 995 and 805, the latter a DX test put on when Dave Gleason owned the station. His QSL letter to me has been on display on Dave's website. Best Brazilian QSL was from 980 station, heard in July, in the mid '60s from Texas. Argentina and Peru heard but did not confirm reports. My favorite South American QSL was Radio Mendez, Bolivia, on 680 ... Larry Godwin and I were the first to hear this baby, he in Denver, me in Houston, in 1966. There was a brief window on Monday mornings after San Francisco signed off and before WAPA signed on ... Boston nulled in our direction and Mendez's distinctive native music was unmistakable. Early in 1967, Gordon Nelson in Watertown, Mass,, was able to find a Monday morning when WRKO was off the air, and snared this one ... I listened to his tape and it was absolute.
Those, amigos, were the days! What fun it would have been to have Perseus recordings of a few Monday mornings in 1964, 65 and 66.

Colin Newell wrote, "Do not believe I have ever heard Ecuador on MW - that would be a catch now."
And Jim Renfrew wrote,
"Two Ecuador here, both verified: HCJB 690 NRC Test, R. Catolica 880 (used
to have a distinctive children's chorus at sign-on, or sign-off), and one
other not verified, as I recall on 915, Ondas Orenses."
I also managed to log and QSL HCJB-690 during one of their monthly DX tests in January 1996. Only "deep South American" I've EVER logged on MW (no Brazil, Chile, Peru, Argentina, etc.). Venezuela was always hard enough, and Colombia's been virtually non-existent here in Missouri since the late 1990s or so.
