Hi Dennis,
Thanks to the tips from Patrick, Chuck and especially Walt, I'm fairly
certain the 1575 kHz music station under VOA was one of the low-powered AFN
network stations, but without an ID or parallel to check, it will have to be
a probable logging.
Like you, I was checking the 1575 kHz frequency this morning, but had only
VOA-Thailand at a fair level. Yesterday another high-band Japanese station
(1503-JOUK) was also unusually strong here, which probably is a good
indicator of whether 1575-AFN can be received, or not.
Thanks again to Patrick, Chuck and Walt for the information on AFN's
programming, which exactly matches what I heard. I'll keep trying for a definite
ID, but with Puyallup already in broad daylight around 1400 UTC, it may be
quite a challenge.

Gary,
PALS list has 1575 AFN Sasebo listed as 1 kw and using the
name Thunder AM. Great catch Gary. This morning here VOA
is weak and alone.
Best regards,

Thanks Patrick,
The 1575-AFN station in Sasebo is listed as 250w in my WRTH, the
lowest-powered AFN station on the frequency. It would be great if I could
get some
kind of ID at 1400 UTC on the station, but with the daylight rapidly
getting
earlier and earlier, this morning both VOA and the music station on 1575
kHz were already fading heavily around 1400 here in Puyallup (along with
the
other TP's).

Gary,
I recently found AFN Sesebo on satellite. I have no idea if it is AM or
FM, it just shows up as AFN Sesebo. I think that is one that is on 1575.
I can easily record it on DVD/CD, if anyone wants to hear it too.
