[IRCA] TP for 17 Mar from Victoria, BC

Some interesting low level stuff this morning, and a lot of carriers that either
didn't deliver audio, or delivered less than expected. Listened at 1300, 1340
and 1405UT; in the latter time slot, the upper band got fairly lively, though
still low level.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

594 JOAK
774 JOUB
1566 HLAZ at 1404UT

reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

747 JOIB
828 JOBB
972 HLCA
1134 JOQR likely; not //972 or 4460; interesting that Dennis is hearing CNR-1 on
this channel
1422 JORF lively JJ talk at 1405UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be
understood by a native speaker

558 HLQH //603 HLSA, both at this level 1403UT
639 CNR-1 //4460
666 JOBK //594
873 JOGB //828
1386 NHK2 //828 later on
1575 presumed VoA

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

567 JOIK //594
936 Anhui?
963 seemed //1323, if so, CRI
1287 likely JOHR
1323 chimes and fanfare, recognizable in murk at 1300, for CRI
1377 CNR-1 //4460
1467 ?
1494 ?
1503 JOUK //594
1557 deep voiced man likely Family Radio, Taiwan
1584 woman talking, not //594 however?
1593 CNR-1 //4460; strong carrier

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

891, 918, 1053, 1181, 1251, 1359, 1485, 1521 w/SAH at 1405UT, soon faded.

best wishes,

Nick
