[IRCA] TP for 15 Mar from Victoria, BC

An unusual morning here. Started listening again at 1410UT; definitely tomorrow it will need to be earlier. Although 774 was banging down the door at times, signals seemed a little sparse, even among the big guns. Yet, as Walt mentioned Russia on 576 was in, and around 1430UT, 954 was definitely there (what is it about that transmitter, that it's usually best after sunrise here?), and CNR1 on 1593 was in quite well when most other signals had faded down.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

774 JOUB

reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

594 JOAK
828 JOBB
1566 HLAZ
1593 CNR-1 //4460 at 1424UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be
understood by a native speaker

576 seemed to be Russian
747 JOIB
972 HLCA, but not until 1431UT
1143 CC sounding woman, likely Taiwan?

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

567 JOIK //594 but not until nearer 1430UT
603 likely HLSA?
639 CNR-1 //4460, but there was something else there about 100Hz high.
738 woman talking, seemed to be //1143, if so, Taiwan
945 CNR-1 //4460, but someone else also?
954 likely JOKR, at 1430UT
1134, 1287 and 1323 all likely Japanese, but not until close to 1430UT
1476 the mystery continues; woman talking, wasn't //6155 so not CNR2, and didn't quite seem // with the woman talking on 774
1575 likely VoA

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

936, 1098 likely DU, 1422, 1512

best wishes,

Nick
