Re: [IRCA] 1570-KTGE (Salinas, CA) Format

I haven't listened for some time but 1570 at night is rather a mess here in San Francisco with both KCVR & KTGE mixing. KCVR normally atop. I'll confirm what Mike said. KTGE could usually be told from KCVR by their Tiger Roars & La Tigre announcements. As to Cumbia music, I'm not familiar with it. I'll try and listen to 1570 soon.

Thanks Mike,

I was listening to 1570 kHz myself at the 0100 PST (0900 UTC) TOH, and heard a Spanish station, a C/W format station, and a couple of others down in the noise. No ID's, though, so no idea if the Spanish station is KTGE or not. It's not unusual for low-power California stations to be fairly strong here in western Washington, though.

Hello All,

Ultralight radio DXer Tony King of Greytown, New Zealand has apparently logged a 500 watt station in Salinas, CA, 1570-KTGE, but needs
assistance to
confirm the station's programming at 12:30AM PST. His original message
is
pasted below.

Can anyone in the west coast area confirm the 1570-KTGE format, as described by Tony? He would be very appreciative of any assistance--
thanks!

Hi Gary:

My PL380 has scored a 500 watter ( I think) under XERF 100kw on 1570 and
I
wondered if you could here KTGE in Salinas CA from Puyallup ?

I emailed the VP Operations for the small grouping of stations they own
to
question if they played b2b Cumbia overnight. I hear it at peak at 1230 a.m.
PST, but to date have not had a reply. I've 'audio processed' their promo
announcement but can't get a positive ID, rather than heavy repeats of
the
word Cumbia and the letters AM. After being swamped by XERF down here in
NZ
for 50 years it would be nice to get the undercover station confirmed.

Any chance you could listen in for me ?

Best wishes from NZ !

Tony
