I had a very different experience when he came to Santa Barbara many years
ago. I'd been a regular listener for a long time. I enjoyed listening to his
no nonsense and insightful advice to the very interesting questions posed by
listeners. He came across as the nice guy who lives next door. One day the
station that carried his program here announced that he would be making a
personal appearance at the largest theater in town. I wasted no time in
getting tickets.
Every seat was full. He came on stage wearing a very expensive looking
tuxedo. That gave me a bad feeling. Almost right away I found him to be
unpleasant and arrogant. I wasn't the only one. Before long people were
getting up and leaving. After awhile I'd had enough. On my way out I stopped
in the lobby and overheard a number of people saying they felt the same way
I did. I never listened to his program again.

That is too bad, as I like Bruce Williams. Met him at an NAB convention
in LA back in the 90s. A nice guy, but he is way up in his years. He
must be close to 80.
