Re: [IRCA] South Pacific DXing for 17Nov09
Walt,
Thanks for your two reports. Very interesting. Comments:
1580: Probably the most fascinating frequency of the evening.
Mostly dominated by Radio Disney (which should be KMIK, Tempe AZ
with 50 kW) at good level at 07:38. Later faded to be replaced with
a SS station at good level with phone # mentioned at 08:04. Again
Radio Disney ID at 08:58. Best heard aiming pretty much N/S. Not
sure how to explain that!
KBLA (then KDAY) was among the first West Coast stations to pop in
when I was out in the Pacific
1020: Spanish station at fair to good level at 08:07 with 2 men
talking, mentioning “economica”.
More than likely KTNQ
1050: This one is interesting. An ESPN station (ESPN Radio ID at
09:30). At 09:28 I thought I heard “KAIR” ID, but doesn’t match the
frequency. Any ideas here? Thanks!
KTCT calls itself KNBR (as I recall). However, it is Fox Sports
(KNBR-680 is ESPN).
1070 - you didn't list KNX but we heard it very well on the North
Island. We were on our honeymoon in November '78 and tuned in to find
out that Jerry Brown won the CA governorship. (I understand he is
running again!)
