Hi Barry;
Silly "Ass-um-ing" me. :) I discounted it, because of the apparent 1
Kw, that I saw. It didn't sound 1 Kw. Paul Walker has since informed
me that they are 2.5 Kw. That sounds more reasonable. Of course, they
would have been on late and if a station is on late by accident, they
may miss the TOH local drop ins. This one had something like an ID or
slogan at the TOH but of course, it faded down @ that time.
Saul has reminded me to record my DX. Kinda hard, holding the radio in
one hand, the dog in the other and a pen in my mouth. :)
I ranted to Paul (Walker and Swearingen) about Foreign language stations
ID'ing. Here it is: The foreign language ID issue is a big pain for
me. And it is upsetting, too. Amateur radio operators are required to
ID in EE every 10 minutes, at the end of a QSO and so on, regardless of
language used in the QSO but commercial radio stations can ID in
whatever language. If they even ID at all. I don't agree with that
one. How would one that doesn't speak SS or ?? Know? A field agent (if
there is such an animal, today :)) may not know how the ID would sound
in Hmong, SS or whatever. Canada is worse, one ID every 12 hours,
whenever they want. It could be at 2:37 AM and 1:56 PM. :)
No idea on your "News station" on 890. Wasn't listening at that time.
Could Boston be back on with news/talk?
73,
Dave

Did you miss WYAM? It's listed with that format (and has been for a
long time).
I have an 890 mystery of my own - around 2000 EDT or thereabouts, I
was hearing bits of EE talk under WLS. I'm almost certain I heard a
"Fox News Radio" mention, but I haven't found any affiliates on 890.
Ideas, anyone?
Barry
