[IRCA] Today's TP DX - more of the same
This morning seemed about equal to the last few. Some stations were
better, some were worse. Not a big difference overall.
The oddball of the morning was something with 3+1 time pips and what I'm
sure was Chinese talk on 639 at 1400. The language was definitely not
JJ or KK. If the Chinese was CNR1, they were way out of their normal
routine, as the pips were not the normal ones, there was no time check
after the pips, and no big musical fanfare and ID like they usually do.
What's more strange is I had something similar at 1300 on 1170, 3+1 pips
which I thought was KBS, but all the talk was Chinese, with none of the
familiar theme songs that I've come to know and expect from CNR1 and
KBS. Did anyone else notice anything unusual on CNR1 this morning?
Here's what my SDR recorded between 1225 and 1510 today. Due to a setup
error, I didn't record 920-1110, so I probably missed a few things
Really nice audio at times, good enough for a native speaker to
understand most of it
594 Japan, sometimes crystal clear, sometimes unintelligible
693 Japan
747 Japan
774 Japan
Fair audio, good enough for a native speaker to follow some of it, even
if just for brief periods
639 China (presumably), see above
720 CNR2, sometimes stronger than the KIRO splat and computer noise, YL
talk & time pips 1400
738 Taiwan briefly dominant at 1325, KBS briefly dominant at 1350, a
mishmosh of mostly weak audio between those times
828 Japan, not nearly as good as 693/747/774
1170 China, see above
1206 Yanbian
Marginal, could recognize bits of programming, but a native speaker
wouldn't have understood it
549 Russia, chimes and pips at 1400
558 KBS//603
585 Japan //594
603 KBS//558
612 presumed Japan
621 Unid, like usual there was too much KCIS splatter to even figure
out the language
657 presume NK
702 Japan
729 Japan w/talk & pips 1400
756 unid
855 N Korea
891 unid
909 unid
1134 KBS
1278 unid
1287 probably Japan
1422 Japan
1566 HLAZ
Carriers sometimes with real or imaginary traces of audio
666 675 783 792 819 837 846 864 918 1116 1179 1188 1215 1242 1269
