Re: [IRCA] Tecsun's New PL-310 DSP Receiver-- the "UltimateUltralight?"

Gary,

Thank you for answering my question(s). I'm going to order one next payday
as long as the XYL doesn't get to the bank before I do. :)

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your question.

During detailed testing of the new PL-310 in my suburban location, there
was no problem at all with overloading-- and the DSP Ultralights in general
have developed a reputation for being almost "crunch-proof" in resistance
to
overloading. There were also no AM spurs or mixing products detected,
although like the PL-300WT (and G8) models there are some
internally-generated
heterodynes, as detailed in the PL-310 review article.

My 9' (side) PVC box loop will severely overload most Ultralight radios
when tuning in locals, but the DSP Ultralights (PL-310, PL-300WT, G8, D96L
and
D92L) are unfazed by such massive RF. My guess is that you will have no
problem at all in overloading with the new PL-310, even in urban areas.

Hi Gary,

Thank you for the great article! A few weeks ago someone mentioned a
PL-300WT (G8) is not as susceptible to overloading as an Eton E100. Is this
still true with the PL-310? On a business trip last May to Salt Lake City,
Utah I noticed the E100 was very prone to severe overloading across the
entire MW spectrum. It made DXing impossible above ~ 900 kHz. Would the
PL-310 be better than an Eton E100 in a high-RF, urban environment such as
SLC? Thanks & 73!

Ultralight?"

Hello All,

The Chinese domestic market has produced yet another highly refined pocket

radio with awesome DX capabilities-- which happens to be the "flagship"
DSP
model from China's leading radio manufacturing company.

The new Tecsun PL-310 LW-AM-FM-SW portable was designed to excel in the
billion consumer market, and if you have ever dreamed of a highly
sensitive

and selective AM receiver that you could hold in your hand, the Tecsun
company certainly had you in mind! Combining multiple DSP selectivity
options
(1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 kHz) with a vastly improved loopstick, the $40 (plus
shipping) PL-310 is designed to astonish both experienced and novice
DXers
alike.

Besides the outstanding AM-DXing performance, the PL-310 also has
competitive LW capabilities, and FM performance equal to the class-leading
PL-300WT
(G8) models. Read the full details in a thorough 6-page review just
uploaded to the Ultralight Radio File section on _http://www.dxer.ca_
(http://www.dxer.ca) , and to the file section on the Yahoo Ultralightdx
group site,
"The Tecsun PL-310 LW-AM-FM-SW DSP Receiver-- Four Band Performance

Available for $39.99 plus $24 shipping from the top-rated eBay seller
"Anon-co," this innovative new radio may well be the dream multiband

fun
and excitement of Ultralight Radio DXing!

73 and Best Wishes,
