Re: [IRCA] How to phase BOG's? (Jim Glover)

This is similar to what I've tried in the past. I have a 950' length of #14
THHN wire. I parked the truck at the end of a long field and ran it
straight out in the southerly direction. All I did was stick it into the
UHF connector on the radio. No matching transformer or ground. The radio
is well grounded to the truck, however.

It did significantly amplify stations in the direction of the wire, and
attenuate northerly ones.

I also ran two 450' wires out at about a 70 degree angle from each other. I
put them into a DX Engineering phaser. Was able to null a lot of stations
into the dust. In some ways I like that better than a single longer wire.
I will also try the two parallel wires of different length like Kaz
mentioned. I have the 950' roll and a 450' one as well.

One of these days I'll set that up again with matching transformers and a
decent ground. Will also terminate the far ends using the radial design
Russ mentioned. Should be quite effective.

I personally like the DX Engineering phaser. It's physically large, but
pretty easy to use. However it is quite expensive. Runs directly off 12v
in the truck, which is handy.
