Re: [IRCA] The Tecsun CR-1100: the new Superadio?
Hey Russ:
Wish I had one on front of me, but I can point you to eBay item number
220419567619 and to Amazon for the specs and features. It is AM/FM (no
shortwave) and is about 10x6x2.5 inches. Weight without batteries is
listed as a little over 2 pounds, so kinda hefty. The 1 watt amp pushes a
3" speaker. 4 D-cells or an adapter for power. It has a thermometer,
clock, and dual alarm with either a chime or radio for wake-up! It's got
a headphone out jack (FM stereo there, apparently) and a line-in for MP3
players, etc. No AM antenna jack, but it has a F-connector FM antenna
jack. It has a fairly big tuning knob which goes around 360 degrees.
AM sensitivity is listed as 0.5 uV, which is pretty darn good; the
PL-300WT is listed as 1.0 uV, so a fair difference there over the
Ultralight. The FM sensitivity is listed as 3.0 uV: not sure what their
reference is, but it is the same as that quoted for the PL-300WT, so based
on Gary's and Jeff McMahon's experiences, it is hotter than any other
portable out there. Both bands on the PL-300WT have DSP filtering, and
I'd bet it's the same for the CR-1100, so basically best-in-class.
Jeff didn't notice the birdies and other defects normally noted on
portables, so perhaps the DSP takes care of that as well. Gary said that
the images 910 khz down from strong locals are absent on the PL-300WT.
