Re: [IRCA] North American Buyer Run on Tecsun R9012 Analog Ultralight
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your question. For those of you unfamiliar with the Tecsun
R9012 "lemon variant" issue, the Ultralight enthusiast group has discovered that
R9012 models manufactured in 2005 (and presumably around that time) have
substandard performance, and are to be avoided. Since all of the substandard
models discovered so far were yellow-orange ("lemon") R9012's sold by the
eBay seller "tquchina," he was notified of the problem, and has agreed to
sell only newer R9012's from now on. These 2008 and 2009 models have all
been found superior to the 2005 models in sensitivity.
The ebay seller "dpmega" has been selling black-colored R9012's
manufactured in 2008 or later, which have good performance. Although he has not yet
been notified about the "lemon variant" issue, his $9.95 models have all
been of the preferred type so far, and I have two of them myself. My
recommendation would be to go ahead and purchase R9012's from him.

Gary,
Are the R9012 units sold by dpmega good ones too (black in color)?
