[IRCA] OT: well, it's Farda related I guess
things to do when the DX is not coming in as expected....
I've been using the R. Farda website to grab the audio stream for parallels (http://www.radiofarda.com/), and noticed they had a picture of children in the snow there. Sort of odd for the UAE one would think, and, not being able to read Farsi (heck, it looks like Arabic to me, but likely it's Farsi given Farda's target audience; that audience is not west coast DXers in case anyone was wondering), I assumed it referred to somewhere else.
But, in fact, a mountainous area of the UAE had snow this weekend, quite a lot (http://www.thenational.ae/article/20090125/NATIONAL/688880349/1010/enewsletter), and it's a very unusual occurrence there. Cue to pseudoscientific explanation of why both 1539 and 1575 were coming in quite nicely around local sunset tonight.
best wishes,
Nick
