[IRCA] Merry Christmas and Goodwill ramblings

Greetings all;

I will be away from this list until Monday, December 29th so I wanted to
take a second and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and our families
wishes for a Safe, Healthy, Happy and Prosperous 2009. Of course, I'm
also wishing you the "best of DX" for 2009.

I have discovered something possibly devastating - the radio in my 2002
Windstar van (easily the most sensitive radio that I own) seems to be
not doing so hot on AM, anymore. This started last week. I hear lots
of dull hiss, which is not IBOC and the radio is less sensitive. I'm
hoping it's just a loose antenna or ground connection. That radio
normally rocks, AM or FM.

Colin - have fun in Hawaii. The Eton e100 Slider sounds great but I
doubt that I will find one of those at Goodwill :) I did find a fully
functioning GE Superadio (original model) at Goodwill last week - $4.50.
I put in some bargain basement Heavy Duty D-Cells (from the new
merchandise section at Goodwill) and it brought back memories of my
first SR from 1982. The first set of batteries in my old one lasted 3
years. I passed on some kind of "Talking House" FM transmitter with a
cassette player. It was $6 and might have been a "tinker toy."
