Willis, what you need to do is listen just before or just after the news.  They'll announce local weather, for instance, or FM frequencies frequently for neighbouring towns.  The national feed of the news will the same everywhere.  You heard, without a doubt, CBK which gets out really well.  I doubt with 99.9% certainty that it was CBT......Walt.  
PS:  We also have a few 40 watters on this frequency as well, often heard in Victoria (and Patrick on the Oregon coast)...that is CBXQ Ucluelet, BC on the west side of Vancouver Island.
