Re: [IRCA] Applications for two new AM stations in Toronto Area

Dave, Scott & group:

Their day pattern was probably set up to protect the late CKCY, Sault Ste. Marie, while at nght they would need to be more concerned about WMMN, which used to get into Port Huron quite well so I suspect it was beamed north.  I used to be able to listen to sports events on WMMN (back when we first moved here in 1994) but now hardly hear them at all.  I guess  that's the result of their night power cut & move to a non-directional pattern.

How well does Canada monitor compliance?

Bill;

I have been DX'ing AM on and off since about 1980 and I only recently
logged CKNX (for the first time). I think that I am closer to Wingham
than you are. You would think that their pattern must be aimed right at
you, it is, the DAY pattern! The night one takes it West and North, as
far as I could tell.

On many days in the winter, CKNX is the 920 channel dominant here in
Maryland.

Either get CKNX to move to FM or change its pattern. Nobody really
wants to listen to it around here, and it is getting to be more and more
of a pest. It was boomiing in here all last night and even at 0800 this
morning.
