"Knowing" that the morning was going to be weak, I stopped by the radio
at LSR and sure enough, there was nothing out of the ordinary other than
audio from the "bullet-proof" 747, 774 and 828 - with hints of activity
on 594, 738, 963, 972 etc.

Very, very low normal.

Will wait for the Orcas report indicating stellar-average conditions! ;-)
Side-bar - I had a cabin on Northern Salt Spring Island that matched
JB's location on Orcas quite well -- and not surprising, the reception was
staggering for August - a pipeline to Asia looking right up the Strait
of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the mainland.

The salt water strait between the Island and the mainland seems to
"amplify" or, more scientifically, not attenuate signals coming in
from over the North Pacific.
