I did have a trace of some other audio under 585 the other day, but it didn't last long enough to even try to tell what it was.
As always, getting TA's in the midwest involves doing the most that I can to get QRMing stations out of the way while optimizing reception towards the NE where most TA's come from here. Loops and other indoor antennas don't factor into the equation in that regard. Ultralights and any receiver with less selectivity than a Drake R8 series rx also doesn't factor into the equation. I know that there are likely rx's with somewhat better filters than an R8A, but unfortunately I don't have one and since I DX from the truck I need something that I can run off a battery.
Sunday night from Grafton, I posted about how well 1206 was coming in with the R8A and Phased BOG System. On peaks I could call it a 9 out of 10. Right after I came in to post, I checked for it on the TRF. The old TRF is a slightly better rx than my unmod Sony 15 buck ULR's. Icouldn't get more than a het on the TRF..I'd call it a 4. WPHT 1210 was too strong along with some KGYN, and when I nulled it, Chicago 1200 was a problem. Nulling Chicago meant that WPHT and WOAI were problems. So why was it so much better using the Phased BOG System ? Well the greater selectivity of the R8A is a big help, but lets compare what the Phased BOG's aimed at 30 deg were getting on 1200 and 1210. 1210 was WPHT, but not super strong since it is 75 degrees away from the center of the main beam. KGYN's country of the back end was killed by phasing. Chicago to the south and WOAI to the SW were also killed by phasing and what I had on 1200 was a weakish CFGO Ottawa with sports. Thus far less QRM from 1200 and even 1210. The bearing to 1206 France is about 55 degress and that's only 25 degrees from beam center so I still have good reception from that direction. Similar things can be repeated all over the band.

Spain is the only station commonly heard on 585. Tunisia and anything else are far more rare. There are plenty of parallels you can check - 621, 639, 738, 774, 855, 936, 1098, 1107, 1152, and 1359 are among the more prominant ones.
