Re: [IRCA] Report for 25 August 2008 from Masset, B.C.

Hearing the first strong TA carrier on 1215 in several nights tonight @0410. Any others are very feeble though. Hope you're able to be listening tonight Walt.

This morning had the strongest TP carriers of the season thus far, with 1566 very near audio.

Still listening only with my 300' wire. Looks like I'd better get my landscape project finished and the K9AY back in operation!

A somewhat abbreviated report this morning, although the IQ
and Perseus were busily recording most of the spectrum from 12:20 or so, and also the TOH overnight. A project for the next few months for
sure! Live listening from 12:50 to 14:17. First, though, TA report for last night….the
first night where the band was full of TA hets, and some audio, although I
totally forgot to check until quite late….around 05:20. Here’s what was heard: (varying hets unless indicated):

531, 639, 648, 711.05 (almost audio and clearly off
frequency),738, 774, 783, 819, 837 (strong, but mostly blocked by IBOC), 873,
936, 963, 981, 999, 1008…Spain most likely at 6 level, 1035….at 7.5 was the
strongest of the lot with Hey Jude at 05:24, then PP language…Radio Nacional
Portugal, 1098, 1107, 1116 (a 7 with Spain), 1125, 1134, 1143, 1152, 1215,
1224, 1251, 1269 (a 6….Germany or Spain), 1305, 1413, 1485 (Spain), 1503, 1566
(still a 5), 1575, 1584 (a 7, Spain), 1602 (a 6, Spain). Lots! Bodes well for the next while.

Now onto this morning. I concentrated on the bottom and top ends of the band. Fade out tended to be much less abrupt
compared to previous mornings. Lots of
Russians heard, and JJ and CC. Vietnam
as well. Strong Filipinos present as
well. Once again, the Australian
X-banders were there, but not quite a strong as yesterday morning. Here’s the list, in part:

153, 180, 189, 234, 279 all well heard with Radio Rossii.

531: NHK1 plus
another, possibly Russia.

540: both NHK1 and
CNR1

549: Mayak with a
nice signal at 13:06 plus het from
548.9

567: KBS1 plus one
other.

576: Mayak with a 9
signal at 13:09

594: NHK1 very
strong. At 13:25 JOAK and an echoey cochannel…not CNR1 and not //
to VoV on 675 either.

603: Strong KBS2 with
horoscope

612: Very strong
Filipino late at 14:10. Also noted NHK1 at 14:05. No sign of
DU at all.

621: North
 Korea

630: VOA JJ and other
with RR folk song at 13:29.

639: C?NRI

648: RR folk song at 13:33 at 9 level. Either VOR in JJ or VOA. No // noted. With present low US/Russia relations, are the Russians still
transmitting VOA programs?

657: wrecked by IBOC

666: JOBK cochannel
to Mayak //576

675: VoVietnam at 13:25.

810: AFN at 14:02, cochannel with a Chinese speaker and
possibly another oriental station.
1494: An interesting
frequency. JOYR plus another station,
possibly Or Sor, Thailand. JJ was not // to Hokkaido
1287.

1530: Filipino at 13:58

1557: WYFR after 14:00

1566: HLAZ plus usual
cochannel (oriental).

1575: VOA and AFN
cochannel

1593: the usual CNR
and NHK2 cochannel

X-banders with audio: 1611, 1620, 1701.0. Others (1629,
1638, 1647, 1655.98, 1665, 1683.13) hets.

No DU otherwise at all. Have a great day!
