Re: [IRCA] Skywave noise

There are way too many AM stations. The newer -- most often lower power stations make as much noise as IBOC. Combine all of the new "add on" Clear channel drop ins -- most with powers below 5 KW at night and even more below 1 KW at night to low powered local channels. All 107 AM channels now have more stations operating at night than there were 20, 30 and 40 years ago. Most night time opertions are 1 KW or less and over half of the latest AM Applications are for night time power with only 250 watts. It's not that such low power stations cause the noise -- as it is the total amount of signals on any given channel being 4 times the limit for good AM reception. The AM bands needs to be cleaned up. Reduce the number of stations and move them over to FM.
