[IRCA] TP for 2 Aug from Victoria, BC

Listened from 1130-1242UT this morning, and am rather glad I awoke early, as it was an Asian morning, and things were already making an appearance early on. Of course, the domestic splatter was stronger then also, so although signals were stronger, readable audio was harder to come by than later on when carriers were weaker along with the splatter. DU's were also heard earlier, but were pretty much alone after 1230UT. Lots of quantity, though really readable audios were pretty rare, and tended to be only for short periods.

pretty darn good audio (at least briefly): 774 at 1215UT, completely readable with JJ talk at this time, and was heard pretty consistently though weaker from 1130 to 1230. First time at this level this summer.

reasonable audios (though often battling w/splash or noise): none

not so reasonable audio, occasional words in splash or noise:
279 at 1155UT Russia;
702 likely 2BL at 1234;
774 DU talk fighting it out with JOUB at 1221UT;
792 at 1224UT;
 At 1235, things got interesting with 702//738//774, all seemingly Australia, though 738 had touches of presumed French talk also

Burbles in the splatter and noise, Asia unless noted
180 //279 at 1156;
567, DU at 1238;
594 likely Japan per direction at 1202UT;
639 likely Fiji at 1233;
738 at 1154 w/ apparent FF talk, with really big carrier;
747 JJ talk //774 at 1213;
828 //774 at 1144;
972 at 1206 and 1212, big carrier;
1116 DU direction at 1152 and 1223;
1287 quite consistent but never strong 1130-1220UT, seemed to be Japanese;
1332 at 1215, sounded like oriental talk, presumably Japan.  This was quite consistent strength, though rarely with audio, suspect this was the moment the domestic splatter dropped enough to let this through;
1386 at 1219UT.  This was NHK2 w/JJ talk //774.   Even at this low level, this and 1332 were quite pleasant surprises at this time of year;
1512 at 1231, and a couple of times following. Seemed parallel to 792 at 1241 for a firm 2RN logging.
1566 at 1224, weak mx and the usual big carrier; This didn't seem to get any stronger after the 1230 pattern change, so presumably was fading rapidly.

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): (Asia unless noted)

864, 1053, 1098 usual Pacific powerhouse, 1134 with a SAH, but couldn't catch audio, 1548 DU at 1227 and 1238UT, 1575 (wonder how early in the season will have Thailand delivering audio?)

best wishes,

Nick
