Re: [IRCA] KGOE-1480-Eureka CA

The Eureka -- 1480 was the first 1480 on the west coast. It once even had a CP to operate with 5 KW at night as a class III-A station. But a battle with KYOS 1480 in Merced, CA that began broadcasting on channel -- much latter than the Eureka 1480, ended up giving the III-A class to Merced and restricting Eureka to 5 KW daytime and 1 KW at nights -- ND1. Modification of the existing licensed tower and new FCC rules required a power downgrade at night to 680 watts, rounded off to 750 watts per FCC rules.
