[IRCA] Grayland DU's for 6-15

Hello Guys,

With the primary objective of testing out the new 30-inch loopstick
ICF-2010 as an Ultralight "spotting receiver," it was a very interesting early
morning at Grayland.

The modified 2010 certainly was a hot performer, receiving audio on 7
DU's and 1 TP, but only two of these had enough signal strength to be received
on a stock SRF-T615 Ultralight (Tahiti-738 and JOUB-774). The DU audios
were fading in and out constantly, making it tough to try for solid reception on
the Ultralights with limited selectivity.

Heard with audio on the modified ICF-2010 were the following, with
presumed ID's except as noted:

567-2YA weak with music at 1155; parallel 756-1YA heard weakly later, but
not together

612-4QR fair with DU talk at 1235

657-2YC weak with music at 1215, parallel 963 had only strong het

738-Tahiti monster signal at 1236 (but little modulation); audio barely
heard on stock SRF-T615

756-1YA weak with music at 1239; 567 parallel gone by then

774-JOUB moderate-strong at 1126 with language program; heard at fair level
on stock SRF-T615

891-5AN presumed the one with fair DU talk program at 1208; no sign of
horse racing

1116-4BC fair with DU EE talk program at 1217

Radio Marshalls (presumed) on 1098 had a booming signal at 1242 with
absolutely no modulation, either by accident or design. It sounded pretty
similar to a local with an open carrier.

Thanks to John for his list of Aussie and NZ parallels, and for the
detailed information on his loggings two weeks ago. Many of these showed up
weakly at Grayland this morning, although the signal strengths were nothing to
shout about. Thanks also to Steve, Nick and Dennis for the daily DU reports,
which give great help in sorting out the possible targets.

If anyone is interested in seeing what an ICF-2010 with a 30-inch
loopstick looks like, there are a couple of photos in the Ultralightdx Yahoo group
site, in the album "Loopstick Lunacy." It looks similar to a shotgun barrel
with a laptop computer attached, and as Guy Atkins has noted, would never
make it past airport security, hi.

    73, Gary
