Re: [IRCA] HAWAII-830

I remember those days well. Periods 1965-1969, 1976-1979 especially. Hawaiians were easy copy. I chuckle when I read my notes for those periods and note that KZOO-1210 was splattering the adjacent frequency :-)...In the 60s there was a long period when 1350 was clear out here nightly and KTOH Lihue would boom in, notably all summer long. 940 & 970 were easy on MMs & I even heard the toughies like 1130, 1170 & 1270 on occasion. Never heard 610 or 790 though. Then I also remember the times back in the late 50s when I would go bar-hopping listening to KGMB-590 on the car radio with ease. No more, thats for sure. Alaska was tougher but there were times back then when they were nightly visitors too e.g. 660, 750 & 800...

KAZ,

Back in the 70s & 80s, many Hawaiians had local signals here. It was not
uncommon to hear KMVI 550 at S9+20DB completely wiping out KOAC, hands
down night after night. KIKI was strong. Now Hawaiians do not have the
punch they once had. None do. Probably conditions. But in the late 70s &
early 80s, DUs were armchair copy across the dial night after night too.
