[IRCA] Monster SSB Portable Created-- ICF-2010 With 19.5" Loopstick

Hello All,

Thanks to all who have shown interest in the loopstick transplant
experimentation with the SRF-39FP Ultralight radios. A complete article
describing this experimentation has just been uploaded to the Ultralight File section
on dxer.ca. This article, "Mega-Loopstick Transplants-- Portable DX
Sensitivity on Demand" has many photos and full technical details on the
experimental progress in "hot-rodding" the Ultralights, with the final 20.25" loopstick
model providing sensitivity far superior to the ICF-2010 (or any other stock
portable).

Based on the loopstick transplant experience gained with the
Ultralights, a 19.5" loopstick was recently transplanted successfully into an ICF-2010.
This highly satisfying project boosted the 2010's sensitivity far past the
stock level, to a point where it was more than competitive with a 2010+
Quantum Loop 2.0 combo (even with the QL's separate tuning). An article
describing this transplant has recently been written, and should be available for
AM-DX enthusiasts shortly.

The loopstick transplants provide a relatively easy and inexpensive way
for DXers to "supercharge" their portables, and provide DX performance far
beyond the stock units. Hopefully, more DXers will enjoy the fun and
excitement of these thrilling projects.

 73, Gary DeBock
